Tues 13th March – Angles of depression and elevation

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: To establish how to use trigonometry rules when a question uses angles of depression or elevation

STARTER: Can you use trigonometry to work out the height of the lighthouse and the tree in these questions (screen 5 from this lesson)

LESSON: Angle of Elevation and Depression Video.

QUESTION: Owen sees a plane up in the sky. He knows it is at a horizontal distance of 45 km and the angle of elevation is 33°. How high is the aircraft.
