Tues 20th/Weds 21st Nov – 3D Shapes mensuration questions

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Understand how to find lengths areas and volumes of 3D shapes
SUCCESS CRITERIA: You will be able to use given formulas and your knowledge of Areas, lengths, Pythagoras and trigonometry to workout lengths areas and volumes of 3D shapes. These include:
Cubes, Cuboids, Spheres, prisms (including cylinders) Pyramids (including cones)
ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY: Definition of mensuration
LESSON: Discussion on:
  1. Volumes of shapes – Which formulas are given, what do we need to remember... Cuboids, Prisms, Pyramids, Spheres
  2. Surface area Questions – Cuboids, Prisms, Pyramids, Spheres
  3. Using Pythagoras to find lengths – Pythagoras in 3D – eg find length of the diagonal of a cuboid
  4. Be aware of trigonometry rules including Sine rule and cosine rule – they may be useful in solving problems
