SUCCESS CRITERIA: You will be able to use the formula y = mx+ c to sketch straight line graphs. Know how to find the equation of a line parallel to another straight line and find a perpendicular line to a straight line at a given point. Finally you will be able to quickly work out the coords of the mid point between two given coords.
ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY: Question 11 From Paper 1 Non-Calculator paper
LESSON:
- Reminder of y = mx + c, how to use it to quickly plot a straight line
- Special cases of straight lines - X + Y = constant
- Finding the midpoint between two coordinates
- Finding the equation of a line between two coordinates
- Finding the equation of a line parallel to the given straight line and passing through a coordinate
- Find the equation of a line perpendicular to a given line at a particular coordinate on the line.
